Covid-19 Guidelines

Tri City Chargers
2022 Return to Play Covid-19 Guidelines and Protocols

The Tri City Chargers Youth Football Organization will begin the 2022 football season according to the IDPH, CDC and St Charles Park District return to play guidelines. As we get ready for returning to play, we are focused on ensuring the safety of our players, coaches and spectators. TCC will follow guidance of state and local agencies and will be implementing additional procedures and recommendations to ensure we mitigate risk of exposure to Covid-19 to the best of our ability.

First and foremost, these guidelines are not optional. Coaches and players are required to adhere to the rules and parent involvement is strongly recommended.

General Program Information

-All players must have a waiver form turned into the program prior to picking up equipment.

-Parents are asked to monitor symptoms and report them to coach and the program as they arise. This ensures the safety of your child and those within the program. Symptoms include cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat and loss of taste or smell. Players should not attend team activities if they have any of the above symptoms and they should notify their coach of these symptoms as soon as possible.

-Players must notify the league at of possible Covid-19 situation. Immediate family and the program will act in accordance with the CDC health guidelines.

-No sharing of personal equipment such as helmets, shoulder pads, jerseys, water bottles (players will have all their own equipment).

-It is required that parents provide players with their own hand sanitizer.

Spectator Policy

-Spectators from different households should practice social distancing of 6 feet when possible.

-Out of respect for all families, spectators are expected to stay out of areas that are designated for players/coaches during games and practice.

Practices and Games

-TCC Board has communicated with Head Coaches to take measures to socially distance whenever possible to ensure compliance with recommended social distancing recommendation from the CDC.

-Players must arrive at practices and games dressed in the required gear and holding their helmet.

-Equipment including footballs, bags, and tackling dummies will be sanitized by the coaches after every practice and game.

-It is recommended that practice or game clothing is washed after each practice or game.

-Coaches are required to take attendance at every practice and game.

-According to the CDC and IDPH , quarantine is not necessary if your child has not been within 6 feet for a cumulative total of 15 minutes over a 24 hour period.

-If vaccinated there is no need to quarantine if you've had close contact with someone who tested positive for more than 15 cumulative minutes in a 24 hour period.

-If a player or coach on a TCC team tests positive for Covid-19 (regardless of vaccination status), that player will not be allowed at practice and will need a letter from a physician to return to play. Parents will be notified that a player has tested positive and will recommend (not required) teammates to get tested, if displaying active symptoms.

-If it is determined that players, coaches, or the entire team has exceeded the 15 minute threshold of close contact then the team (players + coaches) must quarantine and comply with the direction from the local health department.

-Two options are available for players or coaches to return:

-Return after day 10 without testing.

-Return after day 7 after recieving a negative test result (test must occuron day 5 or (after).

-If a total of 3 members from a team (players and coaches) tests positive for Covid-19 at a time, that entire team will be required to quarantine at home for 14 days. It will be recommended for all players and coaches to get tested. Any player that tests positive will need a letter from a physician to return to play.

Recommendations for Parents:

-Please monitor your child’s daily health. Keep your child home if they aren't feeling well.

-Per the directions above, please notify the head coach if your child tests positive or has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19.

-All athletes will be required to leave practice or games fields immediately at the conclusion of practices and games. We appreciate you picking them up on time.

-Carpooling between players from different teams is discouraged. Let's work together to keep everyone healthy, safe and active.

In closing, this indeed is a lot of information and work. As we stated earlier in previous communications, we know there are risks. We are trying to take every possible safety measure to ensure participants, families and coaches are safe and keeping kids active. As a reminder, all TCC board members and coaches are volunteers and as such we strive to do our best to monitor any changes to recommendations surrounding returning to plan and continuation of play. We reserve the right to modify or change any of these guidelines at any time as safety is our top priority.

Thank you,

TCC Board of Directors
