The Tri-City Charger Jr. Pee Wee Travel Team won in convincing fashion in their first game at the United Youth Football League National Championships on Monday in Plant City, Florida. The Chargers faced the 7 Cities Silverbacks, the Southeast Conference winners from Virginia, winning 47-13.
The Chargers scored two touchdowns in the first quarter on the pounding running of Tommy Schroeder and Pat Griffin! The Offensive line of Justin Hull, Johnny East, Riley Anderson, Jordan Perez, Carson Hughes, and Danny Daley, dominated the line of scrimmage the entire game! Quarterback Clayton Isbell ran the offense flawlessly and scored two touchdowns in the effort.
The defense, led by linebackers Michael Donatelli and Nick Garlisch, held the Silverbacks to no points in the first half. The D-Line of Nico Piaskowy, Conor Dixon, Chase Carlson, and Jacob Doyle, were in the Silverback’s backfield all day. Defensive backs Liam Drummond and Mark Riley provided tough run support all day with Mark Riley picking off a Silverback pass for a 50 yard interception return for a touchdown at the end of the first half.
The boys will be celebrating their victory with a much earned trip the Bush Gardens today!
The Chargers were the tournament’s number 1 seed and will receive a sem-ifinal bye! The boys strap the pads on again on last time this year on Friday at 2:30 EDT in the National Championship Game!
Go Chargers!!!!!!!!!
